If you are interested in a lifeguard opportunity at Scarborough Beach State Park, please be aware of the following:

  • All lifeguards returning for lifeguard employment will be required to complete the 500 meter swim tests in 10 minutes or less. The swim tests are administered two times each season.

  • In addition, all lifeguards will have a complete medical screening performed by a certified physician, prior to employment. Each candidate for employment must have been classified as medically competent to perform the duties of an open water lifeguard.

  • The lifeguard staff at Scarborough Beach State Park will participate in a yearly program, as part of the lifeguard curriculum, to include considerations when using a helicopter for rescue purposes.

  • In addition, the curriculum will include considerations when assisting a disabled vessel and passengers on board.
